NK Timber Ltd. is a subsidiary of the Nak’azdli Development Corporation (NDC), the economic
arm of Nak’azdli Whut’en. We are expanding our forestry team and seeking an experienced
Planning Forester who brings strong leadership and deep expertise in one or more of the
following areas:
- Operations
- Planning & Development
- Silviculture
This is a senior-level opportunity to help shape the future of NK Timber’s forestry operations.
You will manage multiple forest tenures, lead planning and development activities, and
contribute to sustainable, community-driven forest management. As a key member of our
management team, you will oversee harvesting, silviculture, timber valuation, budgeting, forest
inventory, and long-term management planning—while ensuring full compliance with all
applicable laws, policies, and directives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance as a senior forestry professional.
- Manage multiple forest tenures and licenses.
- Lead planning, development, and field operations.
- Oversee silviculture programs, liabilities, and compliance requirements.
- Engage with the Nak’azdli community to integrate stewardship principles and traditional
values into forestry practices. - Support clients, partners, and stakeholders through professional collaboration.
- Manage contractors and maintain strong licensee relationships.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities for NK Timber and Nak’azdli community
contractors. - Contribute to continuous improvement, innovation, and sustainable forestry practices.
Work Location: Fort St James or Prince George
Holidays: 3-4 weeks per year

Pay Rate: $80,000 – $100,000/yr

Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of forestry experience in British Columbia.
- Diploma or degree in Forestry, Resource Management, Environmental Science, or a
related field. - Registered Professional Forester (RPF) designation in BC.
- Demonstrated expertise in Operations, Planning & Development, or Silviculture.
- Additional experience in Log Marketing, Wildfire Management, Strategy & Policy, or
other natural resource fields is an asset. - Strong skills in forest data management, GIS, and spatial analysis.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively, solve complex problems, and support systems
improvement.
